According to the motion state of the material bed and the relation between the motion state and the number of guidelines, the rotating speed of the rotary kiln will increase with the increase of the guideline number. The material bed will slide off, fall off, rolling off and throw off. The material layer in the rotary kiln can be divided into the inactive layer and active layer. For the most of the part of the bed layer of the rotary kiln, namely the inactive layer, the particles do the circle movement with the rotation of the barrel of the cement rotary kiln. Even when the diameter of the particle is small or the thickness of the bed layer is large, the thickness of the motion layer is not more than 12% of the thickness of the bed layer. For the reaction system with small gas-solid reaction rate, the residence time of the gas in the active layer is shorter than that in the active layer. Therefore, the reaction process of the gas in the motion layer can be ignored. We can only consider the reaction process of the materials and gas in the inactive layer.
